Voice Over

This is our voice over commentry of what we were trying to do with our music video.

Final Video

Digi- Packs compared

this is the front cover of our digipack.
when getting feedback we got a good response. people liked our simplisity of the cover and it works well with the title of the album. We did put it on facebook as we were consetrateing on the video feedback instead we showed people. People really liked the simple Characters as it reminded them of Pon & Zi a popular emo cartoon also they said it reminded them of Wall-E
comparing to other album covers/ digi-packs a similar cover is another acoustic artist called Jason Maraz this is a very simple cover using the simple cartoon as the centre piece of the cover.

Equipmnet

we used Final Cut and After Effects to make our video. we also used Photshop to add in details to the video and do my Digi-Pack. If we did have these software we would of had to use very simple editing sotfware and the quality of the editing would of declined
also the photoshop is able to edit images and add effects to it. if we did have this we would of had to use basic sotfware like piant or do it all by hand.

In making my music video I used many different software and equipment to make my video the best it can be. during research and selecting my final song I used Blogger to blog my progress this is a very helpful thing as I can accuses it from anywhere and edit it quicklyy and not have to hand write it on bits of papers or in a sketch book also its a lot neater. In my research I used youtube to look at different Music video and embedded them into my blog. youtube is a great website as it shares different videos from all over the world. If youtube wasn't around people would have to try an describe the video with images and sometimes the atcual quality of the video may not be met.

When looking and asking permision for bands I used Myspace which is one of the greatest social newtworking sites for music most bands and artist have a myspace its a way everyone can keep updated with bands and listen to there latest track on free live steam players. Also you are able to contact the band using comments and messaging systems. If I did have myspace it would be nealry inpossible to find the contact details for the artist and to find tacks to use.

After finishing my music video I posted it up on vimeo and facebook. Vimeo is alot similar to youtube. but Vimeo is similar to flikar and it a comunity site for shot film makers as only origianl and copyrighted video are aloud on the site. Vimeo is a good site beaucse it bring film makers togethers comparing shot film and lerning about film by looking at others peopels work a nd opinions. unlike facebook which is a social networking site this involes keeping in contact with your friends and making newone as you go. I poseted my video on facebook to get some feedback. this is a handy thing as you can let alot of people know what you have done and they can comment on it very easy and quickly. If I didn't facebook I would have to get poeple to come watch my video and ask them to give me feedback and I would have to ask them to write down what they thought or record there opinons on a audio recorder.

With the equipment I used to make my music video I used a Mac book, Mac Pro, a semi-pro HD camera with tripod and headphones. all these equipment are great to have as it as we can make great quailty video. If we did have them we would bave to use low quility DV type and we are able to edit easaly using the Mac's. If we did have the macs with editing software we would of had to you Linear Editing.

Overall Feedback from pitch

after finishing my rough cut I got a mixed feedback. My class really liked my rough cut and felt all that needed was improved was to make sure everything was synced up correctly and I had to tighten up my editing. My Teachers felt that the outdoor footage did work very well with the indoor junction footage and felt I should remove it and replaced it with the indoor footage. After my first feedback I took out all the outdoor footage and put in all my indoor footage but as Only had a limited amount I floped the footage to have more camera angles.
With my 2nd Rough Cut. We showed them to the staff at the junction. after watching it they really like how good the footage was but felt some of the footage wasn't in sync and the editing just needed to be tightened up Just a little bit more. from there I synced up all the footage and replaced the footage that was to quick with slower footage. I also added a few more effects to add more a acoustic genre feel to it
My Final Version I posted on facebook and have got positive feedback. People felt that the video was really good and the editing and effects were great. they reminded them of a live performance or music videos that uses a similar kaleidoscope effect. They also gave negative feedback which was about the recycled footage that I floped that made the performer switch from playing right-handed to left-handed.

9 frames

Frames 1 shows the lead singer singing the lyrics which is a basic representative of lyrics to visual.
Frame2 show the image that the record company would want to show them performing.
Frame3 show the type of band it is which is a 5 peace Rock band
Frame4 this frame use a technical which projects an image on a plane of glass and you are able to see through but the image behind is fainter this is an old theater technique
Frame5 This is a pan shot looking at the whole room showing the roof
Frame6 Shows the Lighting set up. They have light above each performer.
Frame7 Show how they dress and act which is like a relaxed rock star shirt jean long hair and a gibson guitar of some kind.
frame 8 is a classic close up which is used alot in rock video beacuse it give teh performaer chance to show as much passion he can give.
Frame 9 is a visual shot which give a view of the set that the oerformacne is taking palce.

1. a shot that shows a link between lyrics and/or music and visuals

Frame one show a link between lyrics and music as the lines said in this shot is "watch out for the anal Proob" is this an odd lyric and I felt it need a odd shot to add to the effect to the music with this Calidascope style of shot

2. a shot that typifies the way a record company would want their artist to be represented

the second frame show how the record company wants their artist to be represented and I feel the shot of the guitar is a key shot as it show that the artist is devoted to the guitar as he is an acuostic artist.

3. a shot that illustrates how your video uses music genre

Frame 3 illustrates the genre of music mainly by the instrument he is palying which is an aucostic guitar and he is clicking his fingers which gives it more of a funky/jazz feel to it.

4. a shot that shows an intertextual reference

Frame 4 reffrences to alot of slow and auostic video as it has an overlap fade with the singer sing with close up and a wide shot which is a common technice used.

5. a shot that demonstrates your use of camera

the camara angle fits with the music as its not eye level but just a little bit below and the light and smoke adds to the shot

6. a shot that demonstrates your use of lighting

frame 6 show the light up settings we had which was to blue light behind crossing ove behind the artist and then a plain spot light on the artist.

7. a shot that demonstrates your use of mise-en-scene

7 show how the artist dressed in a jumper hippy trousers and a bandana this gives the artist a relaxed and layed back image he is pasionate about his music.

8/9. Two shots which you feel demonstrate something which shows you have watched other music videos

8 and 9 are very common shots and give it a feel of live perforamnce with all the mics around him .

My digi pack idea

My idea for the digi pack is to have an artistic feel to it.
As the album is called hand built by robots I feel the cover should be based around that also I think it would look good to do it drawn like Jason Marazs album.
also i feel it would look good to have other character as a comic add on also to reference to the song UFO

Album covers

This is Metallica Debut Album master of puppets.

I think this is one of the best album covers around as it's simple but has alot of meaning.

it show how people are used like puppets in war and even after they die there death are used to make more people someones puppet.

This is All Shall Perish's Awaken the Dreamer Album

This album cover represents more of a Statement then the band.

I feel what the message it trys to get across is how america is slowly taking over the world by threating every were with war and not looking for peace but domination over all.

This is Bruce Springsteen Born to Run album

this album cover is very simple as it has Bruce holding his Fender Telecaster and leaning on to a unknown person.

this show more the image of the artist and maybe give you an idea of what kind of genre of music Bruce Springsteen is.

This is Neil Youngs famous album Harvest

The design of this album cover is very simple as it most proavly vinal the text and the colour of the album gives some away of it kind of america west feel.

Junction Feedback

After taking all my out door footage from my music video we went to the cambridge junction to get feedback from Rob Tinkler and Pete Edwards.
Pete Oranises club nighs Djs at the junction and has worked there for over 15 years.
Rob book all live music and comedy events and has worked in the industry for over 25 years

After watching my music video. they both really liked it and felt the simple idea worked really well but maybe not have so big effects like the mirror as it didn't work as well. most of it was in sync and some of it wasn't as well in sync

Rough Digi-Pack Cover

This is my first Idea for my Digi-pack for Newton Faulkners Album Hand Built By Robots which is the album which UFO is in

Digi- Packs

This is Avenged Sevenfold Live DVD at the LBC and Diamonds in the rough

In the cover it has the location in the background and all the member of the band drawn like skeletons performing

I like this cover as it original and the drawing are really good as you would expect

This is Foo fighters DVD of there One by One tour in 2002-2003 filmed over the tour and four different gigs

I like this cover as it takes the tittle of the DVD and use that idea as each member is in a Arrow point in the opposite directions.

It nice and simple and works very well.

Rough Cut Feedback

With My feedback and Ive had lots of different feedback on peoples views of the video.
Some People people instantly enjoy the video. Only a few had Ideas for Improvemnt

Alex felt that some of the editing was to quick for the song but if you were trying to make the quick cuts work then it might need some more in it.

Pete Felt it was good again the Editing was to quick not quick enough or just random at points. He also felt that the video will need some kind of concept to it like a narrative or something more then just the performance.

Target Audience

Newton Faulkner has a large auidance.

but I feel the target audience is someone who loves rock and likes a bit of funky acoustic to chill to.
this stereotype would play guitar themselves or some kind of instrument as they appreciate newton better. they would go to many gig from big gigs like Muse or Kings Of Leon to smaller venues like cambridge junction that have the junction fiver with many unsigned bands. they may be in a band themselves.

they would like to go out to open mics or jam night at pubs
they would dress in smart but casual out fits.

they would watch music channels like T4, Kerrang, MTV2 or Q

How a Music Video is made today

when making a music video its most often the Record company get a Video Commissioner to send the chosen to Directors and Production companies that they feel are right for the job. From there directors are given a shot time to think and send the commissioner there pitch which they base on rough idea from the band and record company. The band and record company then choose the best Idea and layout a budget. they then allocate a producer to look after the budget the producer is paid with a percentage of the budget. the producer and director hire a Director of Photography and Arts Director they help in Pre-Production by moniorting plans and how the video is going to look. they then send out location scouts to find the best location based on the video idea after the location is found planning of the shoot are made. by hire all the equipment and the crew, actors(if needed)and make sure thing to accommodate the crew and casts like toilets, food and transport. Planning goes to the most grave deatial as when it come to shoot day most Directors on get one day to shoot the video so everything has to be planned out and back up plans are made.

Next the day of the shoot. After the shoot the footage is shipped off to an editor and the editor has a few day to make an Off-Line edit which is using the raw footage and cutting making no changes to the images and no effects add if any are planned. It then shown to the record company and band to see there views. Changes are made if asked then the Online Edit is made adding all effect and colour correction or filters. when this is finished the final version is taken to the client who then put it on Tv or place it online wherever they wish to broadcast it.

This all takes 3-4 weeks to make as every min as soon as the budget is made it starts to be taken away to pay for everyone and everything.

Student Music Video

I really liek this Student video as it plays on the theme of the song. Geek Chic as the band which i think is the atchual band all a bit geeky and they are in america performing in the gym its steriotipical that geek are prayed on during dodgeball. I think its a simpal but brilliant Idea its cut really well and soem of the footage is realy well made. for example the bass palyer dodges a ball but it hit the drumer who is behind them.

This my online banner which would most likely appear on social networks like Facebook or Myspace. also appear on Music websites.

1st Rough Cut

this is my 1st rough cut of UFO by Newton Faulkner

Editing Music Video

First thing I did when I started editing after capturing all my footage is I layered up all the Clips One on top of the each other syncing them with the song. After I did this I started to look at each clip choosing the best shoot and shoots closest to my Story bored plans. from there I you scroll through the Clips finding the right shoot for the right part.

Prodigy Smak my

this is the video Smack my bithc up by prodigy
I think this is a great video beacuse it pushes the boundgry also as it has a great twsit at the end of it but unfortunatly its band from MTV and most other music channels and only come on rarly. All though it contain Inaproprate content it send a message about what people expect the generation today to do but as if you are able to watch it till the end you will see this how a good idea is good if you save soemthing till the end something to make audiences taht here about the video make tehm watch till the very end.

student video

This is a Students attempt at teh well known Slipknot Song Dead Memories
creadit goes to student as he was using a well known song which already had an Offical Video.

The video is well made and good attepmt to keep to the bands image and masks.
the story is clear and has good effects. I especally liek teh alst part of the video were the band member take there masks off to have another one underneath I feel this is a great idea and is pulled off well. But I feel the Student has use the offical video as a reffrence to much as there parts of the video that are the same as teh offical like the lead singer bumping into the band member with the metal mask but it has a nice twist as when teh lead signer turns it the clown instead

the video below is the original track

Animatic UFO

This is the animatic of our storybored

the Song

this is the song we have chosen to use for our music video in replacment of our old idea

UFO shoot

We broke our shoot into two days on the first day we used athe garden areas behind the college to get good visual shoots and angles. we first shoot under one of the trees taht has lost most of its leafs but teh leaf had turned a nice red colour and I felt it would look could with out performer standing in it. We shoot at the tree a few times tehn we moved acroos the areas to an sturctuire which i think is a piaces of art but it look much like a ship of some kind. so we did a few close up shoots there as it showed less of the building which would make people wonder what it is.
We also shoot form up a tree looking down at our Peformer. We shoot in a few other spots around the area but all were similar in layout.

the next day we had to location shoot plans. 1st we shoot in a place we call the sceret gardens. it was located next to Hills Road sixthform college and is part of a company that sits behind hills road. the loaction is most pebble but with some patches of grass and many trees with a large chest sit and bit of old machinary. in the middle of the garden there is a large rock sourounded by a ring of rock and there is a spiral path way leading to the middle rock. There we had out peformaer standing on teh rock and we shoot many diffrent angels which included a mid-shoot a closer mid-shot to teh left and right of the performer a close up looking up oat teh performer and a panning shopt and wondered around our peformer. we also did a long shot but i put the camera an anotehr rock that was slanted at an anlge so i shoot our performer standing on his rock but my camera was sitting at a angle. ui feel this is a intresting camera shot to use and not many people use it that much but i think to make soemthing vaired its a good shot to have.

We then moved to the junction were we had set up a staged performance. there we shot again at the most used angles then did soem hand held stuff around our performer getting lots of close up and close up of the performers guitar.

Lighting

we are using a stage set up for part of our video and we have discussed about lighting set ups.
our First thought is a spot light performance in a blacked out room. But after watching some live performance show we relies adding a few more colored light really gives songs more atmosphere.
we decided to go with a Jools Holland approach as most performance have many colored light wondering as well as the plain spot light.

We have also decided to use a smoke machine as after watching a few performances with smoke machines the light look perfect when smoke is crossing the lights path it give it a really wired but relaxed feeling

New idea

As me and ash have desided to drop the Pendulum idea and go with a new artist
we ahve gone with acostic soloist Newton Faulkner and we have chosen the song UFO. and our inisual idea is to ahve two performances one in a staged are maybe green screen and visual effect in the back ground and a live busking performance in the streets of cambridge. we also maght add a narative but idaes on that are in working progress.

fist thought of UFO
- the perform wondering and spoting a alien everywere he goes
- have a alien wonder around looking at diffrent human culters
-have a alien fanatic trying to prove aliens exsist but aliens keep hiding so only he sees them and noone else

Backfire

As in result with the bad green screen the footage is not very good anymore so we have had to try and make soemthing out of it but with the limited angles there wasn't alot of varision and the idea started to seem less impresive then originaly intended also the fact that the song had minimal lip sync in it the song started to look like the wrong chose by me.

shooting for the music video

the shoot went well i got all me character and i was able o set up all me set which was a living room and a green screen set up. unfortunatly we had a hard time keeping the green up and with no showdow on it but as the perfromers perforemed the green screen moved and there was loads of shadow but it was the best I could ge with teh time limit I had.

Partnering up

I have desided to partner up with my calss mate Ash. as ashs idea wasn't holidng up as a idea by it self i felt he could use his idea in my music video as he has expirence and skills at after effects. the idea was to have ash make the intro i film and make a live action middle and join idea for the end of the song.

these are the three emails I sent to Eyes of A Tratior, God Sacks Man and Pendulum

Model release form

Reference to my idea

these are two references for my idea for my video idea. the ironic part of my two references are they are both done by the same band and it is the same band I'm doing the music video for

the 1st reference is Slam by pendulum it hold the idea of a random ordinary person or people doing something odd in public places.

The 2nd is Other Side by pendulum this relates to tow of my idea of having a floating head saying the lyrics and having wired portals and light show.

my 3rd reference is Were the hell is Matt the idea of appearing in random locations all over the world.

Ed Lovelace Review

Ed lovelace is an Ex Long Road Student who has gone on to be a Music Video Director and now is working on his first feature film. He came to long road 2000 and studied till 2002. back then students used iMac's and used iMovie to edit film, Final Cut didn't Exsist =o . they had the same kind of cameras we have today but the cameras would cost £1200 for one. He made his Thriller into in 2001 it was called Conections were two guys sneak in to a house ans steal a silver case the owner of the house chases them and shoots the slowest guy it then end with the guy with the gun questioning the guy he shot. In his second year of long road he made a music video of the song Sleeping Sword. the idea was a conseptual video were a girl wondered cambridge and bumped into the love of her life (which was her feancey in real life). He then gave us Tips on how to do a music video well which was if you have a great idea and you plann enough the rest will follow and it will be good.
When Ed left Long Road he went to studie at Bouremouth University from 2003 to 2005. there they were tault by people form the BBC and the Diretor of Harry Potter. there he did re creations of East Ender groups work and indivdual project. in his second year he worked for 3 mounth in the Media industry he worked as a Runner for a bunch of diffrent comapny. after working a a runner he relised that a runner isn't the best way to always go as you have a low statas and people usally don't listen to them.

After graduating from Bouremouth he went to work at a Record comapny called Creation were he filmed live performances for not very well know band. He fist did a video for Cutting Pink with knives the idea was a one shot video. but this band failed to make it big the next big band he did was Gallows first music video Abandon Ship. Were it was based around one of there gigs. this then won the MTV award of best video/single and then Ed was hireed by Pulse Film. him and his firend for Uni made D.A.R.Y.L in soho London Pulse was a music video, fetured films and documentrys they have done two vidoes for cage the elephent.

in the buissnes now a days people have to give reffrences to there idea based aroudn films and and video to help explain there ideas. in pitching the an idea 90% of it is writting your idea and the 10% is and thing else you want to add in to help you iodea like iamges and videos.
Gallows and Cutting pink with knives were both £100 budget but with cage the elephent they were £40,000 budget. in directing the director works very clsoe with teh arts director to ge teh set and costumes right and after filming whcih usally takes a day to film starting from 6am and end and midnight. the director work close with the eaditor for 3 days to edit to video then the fim is taken to a colour correction comapny so the video can have the right look and colour that it needs.

Ed is now making his first feature film Wearwolfs across America were ed follows and homes band called Viking Moses who ran away from home at the age of 16 and has been touring america fro 16 year playing shows in people house and then staying anywere they can. this will be reliesed in febuary next year and with tour diffrnet film festival also it is apearing at next years cambridge film festival.

Q&A
Film you have wished to use refference to but have never been able to?
theres loads but ive always wanted to use a Gourndry refrence. But in modern day industry even original ideas have to have a reffrence to soemthing to help explain your idea. photography is also a key to being a good director.

When looking for work what do you do?
Got to keep making stuff can't jsut ask to do thing and have nothing to back your propasition up or you won't amke it anywere i9n todays indusrty.

Which band do you wish you could do work with
well theres loads but as im doing stuff with mysapce and im seeing Jay-Z im hoping to be able to get a chance to do soemthing for him so we can only hope.

Come to Daddy

This is Come to Daddy by Aphex Twin directed by Chris Cunningham

I really like this Video as its so desturbing. with alll the children looking the same its jsut such a original idea also I really like how Chirs Cunningham has edited actions in the Video to match or are similar to sounds in the song.

Planning for Shoot

In my shoot I will be using many diffrent locationsm so the shoot may take a few days to finish.

My cast is very simple as its just a few people but more people maybe added into the cast if they are avalible and willing to.

Locations for the shoot are varied so its in many diffrent locations. most of the video I want to shoot around Cambridge land marks and St Neots. For example I wish to film around Kings College, Cambridge Citiy Center and Grand Arcade. But if im not able to film in surting areas i will find other locations as we shoot. If im not able to get efitont amount of footage in diffrent locations I will go to Green Screeing and film my actors doing there rooteen and i will then edit them into locations and do the same as my idea.

For a surtin shot i wish to film on a train going through a tunnel but Im not sure I will beable to get to a train and there are no mager tunnels on the train lines near. so I will have to think of an alternative.

Schedule for camera- need the camera for one weekend and maybe have a setion at the junction to get good greenscreening.

Pendulum Pitch

Fasten your seatbelts

the vision i have for this is based around a group of people sitting around listerning to the song and bobbing but in lots of different locations.
Like were the hell is Matt but around local landmarks. Also to have some cool effects during the slow bit and just be based around this group of friends. listening to the music.

Locations could be anywhere in town in the woods the streets in houses on the bus on the train etc.

Unfortunatly the song is 9 minutes long but it can easily be cut below 4 minites

Feedback to pitch

I pitched me idea of red mist-new york jazz cafe

after pitching my idea most people were concerned with the location could you be able to use the location and use the crowd were am I going to get them and what i'm going to be able to do with the footage as it apparently had to lip sync live footage.

what i may do to improve my final idea is to have a re-think of all my idea and then make my final chose. I might as this is the best idea I've got for this song i might chose another song to focus on as this one will be a big ask from me

Red Hot Chilli Peppers- Otherside

This is a very well made video has alot of meaning and imagrey. liek the fli is using telephone wires to paly bass and the drummer is yoursing a clock as the drums.

its like a cross me Tim Burton, Random gutiaring with anything youc an find.

Wake Up -Suicide Silence

This is the Offical video of Wake Up by Suicide Silence.

I really like this video beacuse its thrown as many trippy and strage effects. this gives it a destictive tyoe of video working with diffrent angles to get more out of the effects.

Pitch for Party of Kings

Let Me Doctor it
the idea I had for this video idea is a variasion of the video Wake up by Suicide Silence
to have lots of layed effect and wired and random colours images (like a Drug trip to say it in a few words) Also maybe have a wired twist near the end and during the breakdown (like a come down from being Intoxicated)

Pitch for Red Mist

http://www.myspace.com/theredmist

for Red Mist i have two ideas for two of there songs

New York Jazz Cafea- I had the idea of using a cross between black &whaite and colour.
for the veruses as there very jazzy and want to ahve it set like a 50/60s jazz cafe but when the chours kicks in it chnages to colour and have lots of people in the venue jumping up and down enjoying it and so on through the video but have alot of refrences to the 50s and 60s jazz culture. There is a few possible locations that i need to conform but there is a pub that the band usually plays in and also the junction if there is a good enough cafe/bar.

Let Me Run- A Giant Red Cloud and have the band palying ontop on it but cut also to a samller red cloud running through cambridge trying to find the bigger red cloud flys past people also maybe bash through a few people myabe hit soemthing and jsut explode them come back together and cary on till it reachs the cloud.

Pitch for God Sacks Man

http://www.myspace.com/godsacksman

Again i have veriasion of the idea but the main idea is to ahve them palying at a party or a gig and also to show the fans more and see them enjyoing it so have some 1st person view/3rd person shots of them enjoying the band.

my other variasion is having the band trying to get a girl at a party to notice them but she is not intrested in any of them aprt from maybe one of them and they get up on stage to try win her oever by shwoing that there in band.

so this is like Bring Me the Horizons-Chelsea Smile Video meets Blink-182 - Always video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUDCEzfPxw4

Pitch for Eyes of a tratior

http://www.myspace.com/theeyesofatraitor

My pitch is for the for either the song Misconception and Under Siege by the Band Eyes of A Traitor.

for both of them im hping to use Live performance footage beacuse it will give show a good performance and you can get good shots from crowd interaction and live stunts if they are peformed.

but the diffrence in the two is the other footage i wish to shot.

In Misconceptions I wish to green screen the band and get some graffics I will design based on the Gears of War2 title screen.

this Idea is besed around the music video Implar by Winds Of Pluage

For Under Siege the staged performance idea was to have the band playing in a room and have fans trying to get in (under siege) and it cuts from live perforamnce and them also show shots through the key hole on the other side of the door showing people are watching them and having the doors shake and show signs of people trying to get in. For the last verus or chorus the fans get in and jsut go nuts enjoying the music.

23rd september 09 production progress

so far in my music video project I have looked at lots of different types of music video and still have got a lot more to look at. I've started looking at music to use in my music video and I have 4 bands that i could possibly do. 3 are bands that all are willing to feature in the video but they need either recordings of there song or better recording of there songs. so i need to contact all the bands and confirm which will be able to have a good recording by filming or which won't be able to feature in this project. I also had ideas for my music video but i haven't posted a blog about it yet as its in its rough stages but need to get around to posting a blog about it.

Pink Floyd-Another Brick in the Wall

This is a very good video it based on the lyric of the song which is an easy way to think of an idea for making a video this is just a great song and a good example

the video show how some teachers use to treat children with no respect and that they were all bags of meat who they shout information at them while they write it down.

The Universal by Blur

This is a classic song and the video is a great example of references to other media as this video has a lot of clockwork orange references with the lead singer having mascara on one eye and the orange images that pop up during the video.

Korn Freak on a Leash

This is a very interesting video it crosses through cartoon to live action. it has the band feature in the song but theirs a side 'story' with the bullet traveling going through everything till it get to the band.
it uses a interesting lay out and graphic effects.

the cartoon is drawn by the Todd McFarlane the creater of Spawn

My Hero Foo Fighters

This is Foo Fighters song my hero
i think this video is well made as it took pretty much what looks like one shot with a few cuts at the beginning but whats great is that the band keeps appearing playing in the different rooms this is clever and original

Daft Punk Discovery album

Interstella 5555 is a feature-length Japanese animated musical film originally released on December 1, 2003. The film is the visual realization of Discovery, an album by Daft Punk. Each track from the album has been animated as an episode in the story of the abduction and rescue of an interstellar pop band. The film was produced by the creators of the Discovery album, along with Toei Animation, under the supervision of Leiji Matsumoto. The film has no dialogue and minimal sound effects.

Music list

1 "One More Time"
2 "Aerodynamic"
3 "Digital Love"
4 "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger"
5 "Crescendolls"
6 "Nightvision"
7 "Superheroes"
8 "High Life"
9 "Something About Us"
10 "Voyager"
11 "Veridis Quo"
12 "Short Circuit"
13 "Face To Face"
14 "Too Long"

I really like this idea of using an album as a part of a story it gives more depth to the music. As this anime is muted this music still fits in with the music very well. there is a lot of contrast in the album with the mood the anime portraise and the music is able to change and fit the mood.

The Impaler by Wings Of Plague

This video is called The Impaler by Wings Of Plague from the Desamate the Weak album

This first video shows the making of this music video (be warned it contains some what stong language)

Now this is the finished product

I like this video because is has refrences to a completly diffrent genre to there own the opening 1:30 minutes the scene is set more like a gangsta video with loats of drink beatiful women sournding the singer fast cuts also the $100 notes falling from the celing.
My favorite part is during the breakdown when the scene changes to graphics of the album cover and the band is palying within. I like this idea of using still graphics that relate to teh abnd and having them palying around it gives it a dark felling. teh song is very brutal and is something only a minority enjoy but i think the video is well amde and the making of it give you an idea of technices and styles to make music vidoes

Hit Me Baby one more time film shoot

on the day of the shoot we brought all of our costumes in and did a tried to do a quick dress rehearsal but time was not on our side and we had to go shot pretty much strate away we had our story bored and the original video to guide us. we shot the video one shot at a time in the order of it come up in the video.

we 1st shot all the shots in the class room after that we moved to the Gym as we used taht as our hall way because it had lockers in the hall way. from there we shot the video shot by shot. it took alot of time because Myself and all the backup dancers had to learn the dance as best as we could.

In the end we felt we could do as much as we could do and to the best of of our abilitys with the time we had been given

Hit Me Baby one more time Post Production

this week we have planned and re-made the Brittany spears first single hit me baby one more time and we had to do it shot for shot re-make using us as the actors and camera teams I played as Brit and everyone else played as the other dancers. Other people as Director and co- directer that was James and Kirk job.

we first story boarded all the shot of the video up to when they change from the school scene to outside. To speed up progress we were all given sections to do. for example shot 4-10 and the other does 11-17.
everyone did this in pares and i did it by myself as i'm a quick and accurate in what i'm trying to get across. after we did all we needed or what we could do in the time we took photos of each storyboard frame and gave them to Hayden who then made an animatic of our story bored.

Editing the Lip Sync Exercise

In Editing our footage i tried using layered editing which i haven't done much before but something I would have to have learned if i wish to make a successful music video.
so I synced my video to the original track and after that i started to cut it so everyone in who helped make it featured and that i wasn't hogging all the screen time. I think when all of us are on the screen it works well it makes it look like we are a band then just individual people singing along.

I think my final Video is good it need more work if it will be very good but its a bit of fun at this moment and the real work is next.

Our Lip sync test

We have been given the task to make our own little music video to help us to get use to syncing up lips to the original. This also help people with performing as we have an idea with chossing performers or helping people perform for the final music video also we can make all the mistakes now so we make few mistakes in the final piece. also we can try some stuff out that we might use in the final piece as well.

We broke into groups and given a song to mime to we got I fought the Law by the Clash.

We then got a camera and filmed our performance. We performed in front of a blue screen for we had the idea later to add some moving backgrounds. we shot each other individually then in a group. It was a lot of fun and some of us felt nerves but after a while we got very into it as you will see in the final cut of this practice exercise.

Lipsync Test

In this test we were given some footage of old long roads students raw footage and we had to sync the video up with the original song.

In making this we made the sound waves become visible and put makers at the beginning of vocals and put the original track and lined them up with each other then after that we cut and edited the footage to make it look more like a music video by using different shots and changing the footage with effects etc.

We then watched the original and looked at what shots they used and which ones that they didn't that we had used.

Practice Music Video Test

We were given a few clips from this video and a group of song and our task was to edit the footage to fit with the music we decided to use.

I cut all the footage then started to put it in to a sequence to fit with the build up of the song i choose. i concentrated on the build up of the song to get the best effect i could get. it was slow paced but got quicker over time. After time was up we looked at each other and talked about which ones we liked and what could be improved across the class. I liked Hayden's one a lot because it was well edited but it was very shot as Hayden spent most of his time perfecting a small bit of the video
