Voice Over

This is our voice over commentry of what we were trying to do with our music video.

Final Video

Digi- Packs compared

this is the front cover of our digipack.
when getting feedback we got a good response. people liked our simplisity of the cover and it works well with the title of the album. We did put it on facebook as we were consetrateing on the video feedback instead we showed people. People really liked the simple Characters as it reminded them of Pon & Zi a popular emo cartoon also they said it reminded them of Wall-E
comparing to other album covers/ digi-packs a similar cover is another acoustic artist called Jason Maraz this is a very simple cover using the simple cartoon as the centre piece of the cover.

Equipmnet

we used Final Cut and After Effects to make our video. we also used Photshop to add in details to the video and do my Digi-Pack. If we did have these software we would of had to use very simple editing sotfware and the quality of the editing would of declined
also the photoshop is able to edit images and add effects to it. if we did have this we would of had to use basic sotfware like piant or do it all by hand.

In making my music video I used many different software and equipment to make my video the best it can be. during research and selecting my final song I used Blogger to blog my progress this is a very helpful thing as I can accuses it from anywhere and edit it quicklyy and not have to hand write it on bits of papers or in a sketch book also its a lot neater. In my research I used youtube to look at different Music video and embedded them into my blog. youtube is a great website as it shares different videos from all over the world. If youtube wasn't around people would have to try an describe the video with images and sometimes the atcual quality of the video may not be met.

When looking and asking permision for bands I used Myspace which is one of the greatest social newtworking sites for music most bands and artist have a myspace its a way everyone can keep updated with bands and listen to there latest track on free live steam players. Also you are able to contact the band using comments and messaging systems. If I did have myspace it would be nealry inpossible to find the contact details for the artist and to find tacks to use.

After finishing my music video I posted it up on vimeo and facebook. Vimeo is alot similar to youtube. but Vimeo is similar to flikar and it a comunity site for shot film makers as only origianl and copyrighted video are aloud on the site. Vimeo is a good site beaucse it bring film makers togethers comparing shot film and lerning about film by looking at others peopels work a nd opinions. unlike facebook which is a social networking site this involes keeping in contact with your friends and making newone as you go. I poseted my video on facebook to get some feedback. this is a handy thing as you can let alot of people know what you have done and they can comment on it very easy and quickly. If I didn't facebook I would have to get poeple to come watch my video and ask them to give me feedback and I would have to ask them to write down what they thought or record there opinons on a audio recorder.

With the equipment I used to make my music video I used a Mac book, Mac Pro, a semi-pro HD camera with tripod and headphones. all these equipment are great to have as it as we can make great quailty video. If we did have them we would bave to use low quility DV type and we are able to edit easaly using the Mac's. If we did have the macs with editing software we would of had to you Linear Editing.

Overall Feedback from pitch

after finishing my rough cut I got a mixed feedback. My class really liked my rough cut and felt all that needed was improved was to make sure everything was synced up correctly and I had to tighten up my editing. My Teachers felt that the outdoor footage did work very well with the indoor junction footage and felt I should remove it and replaced it with the indoor footage. After my first feedback I took out all the outdoor footage and put in all my indoor footage but as Only had a limited amount I floped the footage to have more camera angles.
With my 2nd Rough Cut. We showed them to the staff at the junction. after watching it they really like how good the footage was but felt some of the footage wasn't in sync and the editing just needed to be tightened up Just a little bit more. from there I synced up all the footage and replaced the footage that was to quick with slower footage. I also added a few more effects to add more a acoustic genre feel to it
My Final Version I posted on facebook and have got positive feedback. People felt that the video was really good and the editing and effects were great. they reminded them of a live performance or music videos that uses a similar kaleidoscope effect. They also gave negative feedback which was about the recycled footage that I floped that made the performer switch from playing right-handed to left-handed.

9 frames

Frames 1 shows the lead singer singing the lyrics which is a basic representative of lyrics to visual.
Frame2 show the image that the record company would want to show them performing.
Frame3 show the type of band it is which is a 5 peace Rock band
Frame4 this frame use a technical which projects an image on a plane of glass and you are able to see through but the image behind is fainter this is an old theater technique
Frame5 This is a pan shot looking at the whole room showing the roof
Frame6 Shows the Lighting set up. They have light above each performer.
Frame7 Show how they dress and act which is like a relaxed rock star shirt jean long hair and a gibson guitar of some kind.
frame 8 is a classic close up which is used alot in rock video beacuse it give teh performaer chance to show as much passion he can give.
Frame 9 is a visual shot which give a view of the set that the oerformacne is taking palce.

1. a shot that shows a link between lyrics and/or music and visuals

Frame one show a link between lyrics and music as the lines said in this shot is "watch out for the anal Proob" is this an odd lyric and I felt it need a odd shot to add to the effect to the music with this Calidascope style of shot

2. a shot that typifies the way a record company would want their artist to be represented

the second frame show how the record company wants their artist to be represented and I feel the shot of the guitar is a key shot as it show that the artist is devoted to the guitar as he is an acuostic artist.

3. a shot that illustrates how your video uses music genre

Frame 3 illustrates the genre of music mainly by the instrument he is palying which is an aucostic guitar and he is clicking his fingers which gives it more of a funky/jazz feel to it.

4. a shot that shows an intertextual reference

Frame 4 reffrences to alot of slow and auostic video as it has an overlap fade with the singer sing with close up and a wide shot which is a common technice used.

5. a shot that demonstrates your use of camera

the camara angle fits with the music as its not eye level but just a little bit below and the light and smoke adds to the shot

6. a shot that demonstrates your use of lighting

frame 6 show the light up settings we had which was to blue light behind crossing ove behind the artist and then a plain spot light on the artist.

7. a shot that demonstrates your use of mise-en-scene

7 show how the artist dressed in a jumper hippy trousers and a bandana this gives the artist a relaxed and layed back image he is pasionate about his music.

8/9. Two shots which you feel demonstrate something which shows you have watched other music videos

8 and 9 are very common shots and give it a feel of live perforamnce with all the mics around him .

My digi pack idea

My idea for the digi pack is to have an artistic feel to it.
As the album is called hand built by robots I feel the cover should be based around that also I think it would look good to do it drawn like Jason Marazs album.
also i feel it would look good to have other character as a comic add on also to reference to the song UFO

Album covers

This is Metallica Debut Album master of puppets.

I think this is one of the best album covers around as it's simple but has alot of meaning.

it show how people are used like puppets in war and even after they die there death are used to make more people someones puppet.

This is All Shall Perish's Awaken the Dreamer Album

This album cover represents more of a Statement then the band.

I feel what the message it trys to get across is how america is slowly taking over the world by threating every were with war and not looking for peace but domination over all.

This is Bruce Springsteen Born to Run album

this album cover is very simple as it has Bruce holding his Fender Telecaster and leaning on to a unknown person.

this show more the image of the artist and maybe give you an idea of what kind of genre of music Bruce Springsteen is.

This is Neil Youngs famous album Harvest

The design of this album cover is very simple as it most proavly vinal the text and the colour of the album gives some away of it kind of america west feel.

Junction Feedback

After taking all my out door footage from my music video we went to the cambridge junction to get feedback from Rob Tinkler and Pete Edwards.
Pete Oranises club nighs Djs at the junction and has worked there for over 15 years.
Rob book all live music and comedy events and has worked in the industry for over 25 years

After watching my music video. they both really liked it and felt the simple idea worked really well but maybe not have so big effects like the mirror as it didn't work as well. most of it was in sync and some of it wasn't as well in sync

Rough Digi-Pack Cover

This is my first Idea for my Digi-pack for Newton Faulkners Album Hand Built By Robots which is the album which UFO is in

Digi- Packs

This is Avenged Sevenfold Live DVD at the LBC and Diamonds in the rough

In the cover it has the location in the background and all the member of the band drawn like skeletons performing

I like this cover as it original and the drawing are really good as you would expect

This is Foo fighters DVD of there One by One tour in 2002-2003 filmed over the tour and four different gigs

I like this cover as it takes the tittle of the DVD and use that idea as each member is in a Arrow point in the opposite directions.

It nice and simple and works very well.

Rough Cut Feedback

With My feedback and Ive had lots of different feedback on peoples views of the video.
Some People people instantly enjoy the video. Only a few had Ideas for Improvemnt

Alex felt that some of the editing was to quick for the song but if you were trying to make the quick cuts work then it might need some more in it.

Pete Felt it was good again the Editing was to quick not quick enough or just random at points. He also felt that the video will need some kind of concept to it like a narrative or something more then just the performance.
